Hi, Most interesting news !!!! Yesterday, a brand new book about Belgian Beer has been presented and introduced at famous Bruges' beer pub 't Brugs Beertje !
The name of the new book: ALL BELGIAN BEERS
The wonderful "to-the-point" cover
The "All Belgian Beers" book is assembled by Hilde Deweer, who we see here on the picture with the voluminous book. A responsibility that has been worked out into a most wonderful enchiridion about Belgian Beer. All done with great care and precision. And...... for this time a woman's job ! Exceptional.... My congrats.
All Belgian Beers has become quite voluminous with a total of 1568 pages ! 1 gram per page makes the book about 1.5 kilograms heavy ! On the other hand, the book itself is not that big according the page size. As you can see on the picture, just smaller than a 25cl. bottle.... easy to carry. More than 700 unique Belgian Beers (756 to be precise!) are described in three languages (Dutch, French and English). No label beers or one-time-occasion beers here.
Two pages per beer. The left page featuring the descriptions, as beer style (not simple!!), fermentation style, brewery, ingredients, alcohol volume%, color-appearance, serving tips, serving temperature, taste descriptions, and some additional info about the beer in question. The lower part of the left page has some space to write down personal experiences, so it's a book to carry with you - all the time ! The right sided page shows the beer, poured out into its original glass. The pictures are from a most excellent quality - VERY sharp !! A professional job. Well done !
The beers are ordered alphabetically, so it's an easy task to look up a beer. A great decision by the publisher.
This bird perspective shot clearly gives an impression about the proportions of the book. Amazing really !
I love this book! I'm 19 and i've always been a fan of trying new beers. I bought this book yesterday and me and my boyfriend decided to try every beer in that book! (and 133 other ones that we found which aren't in the book) ofcourse that's gonna take us some years but that's the plan tomorrow we start with 'Aardmonnik' en 'Oerbier' at the Kulminator (Antwerp) when we're visiting the 'boekenbeurs'! I'm looking forward to it!
PS buy the book!

A GOOD decision Katrien. Be aware, there's 756 beers in that book. Makes it about 2 different Belgian beers per day ! A tough challenge
Cheers,
Filip

wow...if i understand correctly, the book is available in english? or has english in it for each beer, kind of like a dual-language thing? if so, is it available from any USA bookstores/retailers?
thanx!

My friend from Ieper, Diederik Vandenbilcke, sent me the book recently. It is beyond all my expectations! I'll need to put wheels and a leash on it when I travel around Flanders, it is heavy!. I did notice an omission, Chimay Cinq Cents -unless that is the export name for Chimay Triple. This book is a treasure.

Yes, Cinq Cents is Chimay White, at least here in the States.
Cheers!

I have noticed two missing beers so far, Chimay Cinq Cents, and Paschendaele. I have had many Paschendaele beers in the town near Ieper where they have a town brewery.
