Hi,
Last Saturday it was Vilvordia 2009 beer tasting day !
The BBB was present to taste and capture things.
Vilvordia is organized by a student organisation, called as you would expect, Vilvordia (details club at their website www.vilvordia.eu).
The Vilvordia beer festival can be categorized amongst the absolute top concerning offering top-quality beers !
And that is exactly what we have experienced last Saturday in Jette, near Brussels.
BTW, this excellent beer fest could easily be combined as a weekend of beer tasting, because the Toer de Geuze '09 was planned the day after, on Sunday, which the BBB also took part of. All 9 participants were done and captured, which I believe willl become the most extensive picture report ever about this marvelous Toer de Geuze. Stay tuned....
This year, a new venue for Vilvordia was chosen. A better choice, as this place is much more cosy than last years place.
A good decision.
"El Maestro" Steven Vermeylen, the brains behind Vilvordia !
Steven, my upper felicitations. You, and the whole Vilvordia crew have set up a most remarkable Belgian beer festival !
It was a most surprising fact to notice that a lot of efforts were done to offer foreign quality beers !
Here above we see two Danish masterpieces.
The amazing Italian beers were delivered by Italian beer lovers Lorenzo Dabove (www.kuaska.be) and Gianni Tacchini (www.inbirrerya.blogspot.com).
Sadly, Lorenzo couldn't join the party that Saturday.
Congrats to the Italian input. We LOVED the beers. Amazing quality for sure.

Being just back from the States, I was also well surprised to recognize those two American beauties.
I did not taste the Flying Dog Double Dog Double Pale Ale at 11.5 vol% (left), because I had this beer a couple of weeks ago in Los Angeles at beer bar TH Brewsters - See: http://belgianbeerboard.com/fotoreportages/SoCal2009/TH%20Brewsters%20-%20Los%20Angeles/slides/251-5139_IMG.html
Definitely one of the best American brews I had during our SoCal trip.
Gunther Bensch showing something special and brand new !
A beer brewed with Gunther's own recipe at Belgian brewery 't Hofbrouwerijke.
It is called Bienvenue de Montaigu, a 7vol% blond Tripel.
An original tripel made with wheat.
More from that beer later....
