Hi folks...here we go, a quick intro
So after checking into our wonderful boutique hotel The Anderson we headed out and within minutes we were in the meat packing area, you what this means - Warpigs.
Despite the drizzly weather the outside canopied area and interior were packed but luckily we managed to bag a couple of empty seats - first beer was a Big Drunk Baby 9% DIPA (now it's time to relax) these beers are just so damn fresh being brewed on site.

Next beer and it was a Jandal Theory 8.5% DIPA, my this beer was exploding with juicy, tropical, NZ hops
This place may seem the last natural location for a bar being tucked deep in the old meat packing area and housed in an ex abattoir (still complete with tiled walls and floors and carcass rails) but the meat packing area is now packed with trendy restaurants and bakeries so the whole area is alive and buzzing.
Time to move on but not before buying a few cans to bring home plus a newly released Warpigs T-shirt. A short walk away and we're at at Fermentoren - a wonderful cellar bar that's located beneath a block of residential flats.

Just the one beer (it's MBCC tomorrow)so another DIPA was chosen (my do I love a juicy New England IPA)
Final stop of the day and it was a short walk to what is undoubtedly the best corner shop there is - Kihøskh. oh how I wish there was a corner shop like this close to us here in the UK...Pastries, sandwiches, coffee, bread and ONE HELL of a cellar. A cellar filled with some amazing beers, the dedication to beer is so strong they even have a separate refrigerated room for the DIPAs (to help preserve the hops)

I truly was like a kid in a candy store and after careful consideration chose a very special beer from The Bruery, their infamous Black Tuesday - an insane barrel aged Imperial Stout on a bonkers 19.3%, I beer that I've wanted tio try for many years and now a bottle was mine and with that our first day in town comes to an end.
Okay folks, it's MBCC time...
After a very comfortable nights sleep it was down for the most delicious Danish breakfast (to help us fuel up for the beery day ahead of us) a wonderful spread of Danish sausages and bacon, perfectly boiled eggs, various muesli and yoghurts, hams and cheeses and the most delicious Danish pastries.

Fuelled and ready for the day ahead we set out for a walk across town to pick some beers from the Mikkeller and Friends Bottle Shop at the Torvehallerne market. It may be a small corner stall but the selection is jaw dropping.
After choosing some barrel aged stouts and a rather special TIPA from Brujos Brewing out of Portland, Oregan it was time to make our way back to our hotel...however, Linda had a stop off planned. A bar we've never visited before (despite it being located just at the end of the street our hotel is on) also a bar we've walked past countless times before yet somehow never given it a second glance - JernbanCafeen / The Railway (or as locals call it The Lounge)
This one room bar was filled with flags and railway paraphernalia, it even had a model railway that made its way around the interior. This place VERY much reminded us of the brown bars in Belgium - filled with locals and a crazy, quirky interior and a no nonsense landlady behind the bar but we couldn't have been made to feel more welcome, even asked by a local if we wanted a song playing on the jukebox (I let him choose and for some reason he picked Elton John 😄)

With MBCC looming we chose just the one light beer, a house Blonde for Linda and a Classic Amber for me with both being brewed in Jutland by Thisted Bryghus.
As we sat there surrounded by men with just myself and Linda the only English to be heard we quickly realised that this was one of those special magical moments we'll always remember.
Back to our hotel to get ready for our green session, the final one of this years MBCC. This year we decided to turn up just before the 4pm kickoff (instead of waiting in line from 3pm) after all we're only a 5 minute walk away.
We timed things perfectly as moments after picking up our glasses Mikkel appeared on the top deck of an open top double decker bus to announce the green session open, complete with green smoke signals...it's time
As we entered the spacious Øksnehallen building we first had a walk around, excited as what to try first and by chance we were next to a beer on my "to try" list so may as well start with something big. From Bottle Logic it was their Jam the Radar, a 12.5% Chocolate and Raspberry Imperial Stout aged in Bourbon Barrels with Linda picking one from Clagg - Uncoordinated Festival Appearance, a 13.8% Barrel Aged Barley Wine...both absolutely stunning.

Next up a couple of Barley Wines, from Mikerphone their Yakety Yak a massive 16.9% Barley Wine aged for 22 months in Journey Man Wheat Whiskey Barrels then 10 months in Armagnac barrels and one from Batch Craft Beer, a 15.6% Barley Wine aged in Garrison Brothers Bourbon Barrels.

More great beers followed including a West Coast IPA from our friend Peter and Bad Seed Brewing and right next door one from Penyllan, a 6% Champagne barrel aged wild golden ale with wild Japanese Quince.

It was time to go and meet up with our friend Andreas to say hello and share a beer or two, after a warm friendly embrace he immediately poured me a beer and WHAT a beer. From Anchorage it was their massively hyped A Deal With The Devil - an insane 23.01% Quadruple barrel aged barley wine...WOWSER

After much chatting it was time for another walk around and a few more beers, hopping from stall to stall sampling whatever took our eye and deemed interesting

Just as we walked by this stall there was a surge of excitement as special bottles were cracked open an shared...right place, right time

My phone pings again, it's Andreas telling me to get my ass over, we're opening more bottles...who was I to say no.
Turns out he opened a couple of special beers (yes there were a lot of special beers this weekend) a couple of very special Barrel Aged Pastry Stouts from Moksa and Dimensional.

Time for a bite to eat so it was a walk around the many outdoor catering stalls before settling on the legendary Johns Hotdog Deli.

After that pit stop it was back inside for the final hour of the festival culminating in a Negroni DIPA before the DJ played Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley which means one thing, the festival and MBCC was over for another year.

The night however was still young as it was now time to Boogie with the Brewers at the after party and so the Mikkeller bar opened selling freshly brewed Warpigs beers and we danced and partied the night away...MBCC 2025, you've been an absolute blast - the beers, the friendliest people, the amazing breweries, the partying

Cheers
