Hi,
It's always a true pleasure heading to the westcorner of Belgium to pick up fresh Trappist Westvleteren and some crates of amazing Vleteren beers at nearby brewery Deca services at Woesten.
We skipped the brew tavern at Westvleteren, and tried a beer at Woesten.







Georges IV

Georges IV is a blond beer that has matured for 1 year in oak barrels. During the maturation process in the barrels, a small amount of whiskey was added to the beer. This beer, after the death of Georges Christiaens, was launched on the market in 2014.

The IV in the name stands for the fact that Georges Christiaens was the fourth generation of the Christiaens brewing family.

Type: Oak aged blond ale
Colour: Golden blonde
Type of fermentation: Top fermentation with secondary fermentation in the bottle
Alcohol content: 8% vol.
Recommended serving temperature: 5-7°C
Bottle capacity: 33cl
IBU: 24

A really great beer this is. Not that strong like the other 12vol% blond and dark varieties (which we brought back home)
This beer is more delicate, lighter, but still a respectable mouth feeling.
Quite sweet and malty. Not that hoppy, but rather whiskey alcoholic from nature.

Pauline

Pauline beer is a strong blond beer (10% vol.) of top fermentation, with a delicious aroma thanks to the addition of 3 hop varieties, with refermentation in the bottle.







This is a beer that gets my appreciation.
Quite sweetish and a very hoppy accentuation in the nose and on the palate.
It reminds me of Hommelbier, but more body, sweeter and that same hop profile.
In other words: Top-Quality!
This beer needs to be fresh, and that's what we got at Deca.
You really need to savor the hops here. Essential.
I must admit that this is most probably one of the most delicious hoppy beers from Belgium.
Highly recommended  





We were sitting underneith this old picture from the brewery, which was called brewery Sint-Antonius those days.
Brings beer savoring to that next level of enjoyment.
